Product Description
The Cunning Charm
The Iago sidesword is named after Shakespeare’s character Iago from his famous tragedy Othello, set in the city of Venice. In fact, Iago’s peculiar aesthetics is typically Venetian and was widely used by the end of the 15th century. Even if Shakespeare’s work is dated 1604 ca., the malicious Iago’s personality is reflected by the charming and rational lines of the crossguard design and the double sided square port, which offers an unexpected protection to the hand. Extremely agile, the Iago is specifically designed for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and is an excellent pairing with our buckler, targa, parrying dagger or a cape.
